Description: SILVER THREADS, INTAGLIO/REALISTIC ENGRAVING, AND GEOMETRIC VASE Very fine Cut and Engraved bulbous style vase standing 8" tall with a 3 1/2" wide top, and about 4 1/2" across the widest part. The decorative program begins with four, extra-wide miters encircling the vase -- one at the top, one at the bottom, and two in the mid-section. The deeply cut circular miter at the bottom creates a thick wafer base cut with a 24 point radiant star. The geometric bands at the top and bottom of the vase are densely cut with silver threads -- very fine and precise. Floating hobstars with pyramidal hobstar hobs are suspended within the webs of silver threads. Between these two fields lies a beautiful, deeply engraved, sinuous botanical, curving and winding its way around the center field of the vase. Its five-petaled blooms are cut so deep you can lay your fingertip into them. Each petal is embellished with both matte satin finish and clear polish making them realistically 3-D. The spiked leaves, tendrils, and other features of the intaglio work are equally as well executed. There are no condition issues; the dentil rim is perfect, the glass is clear and brilliant, and there is only minimal base wear. The high quality, thick and heavy blank allows for all colors of the spectrum to shoot forth from those deep miters. Perhaps cut by Sterling CG Co.; the well thought-out design and abundance of silver threads seems to suggest that.
