Description: We are offering THE HOUSE OF MIRTH By Edith Wharton, With Illustrations By A. B. Wenzell; Charles Scribner's Sons. New York, NY. MDCCCCV. (1905.) First Edition. (With the Scribner's Seal on the copyright page, and without any Ads at the rear.) This book is hard-bound in red cloth with gilt stamping on the upper cover and spine. The covers show some light scuffing, light edge-wear, and light rubbing to the corners and spine-ends. There are a few faint, speckled, damp-stain spots on the upper cover. The spine is sunned. Both hinges are cracked, with the front free end-page and half title-page loose, laid-in and have small open tears to the outer edge. The text-block is "starting," at some places, showing the beginning of separation, but with the binding still generally solid. The contents are bright and clean with illustrations. Overall a bit of a rough exterior with a binding beginning to loose, but with nice contents. A possible candidate for a new binding.
