I only had one customer that had an issue because he didn’t understand how it work. So here’s a long explanation on how to setup your lighter. By the way, He sent it to me and I realized what he had done… he turned the adjustment to wide open, which is dangerous. Here’s how to avoid his issue. The lighter ships empty (no butane). After buying your lighter, you’ll need butane. Buy a good brand as such as Zippo. Before adding butane hold down the activation on the lighter button for 5 seconds to make sure there is no trapped air in the lighter. Load your lighter by inserting the fill straw into the center of the adjustment screw. ( Black circular specialty screw in the middle of the bottom of the lighter.) [Not the silver Phillips head screw that holds the outer case to the lighter.] Then press down quickly and firmly. If cold butane is getting out, you don’t have the fill straw squarely on to the lighter. Hold the fill can down firmly for 10 seconds. Then quickly lift the can away and the lighter should be full. Important - use a small flat screw driver and gently turn the flame level to a low setting by turning the adjustment scree clock wise. Make sure you let your new lighter warm to room temp for at least 30 seconds before striking after a filling. Now, strike and maintain the flame by holding down the activation button. If it’s too low , stop the flame & turn the lighter over and slowly adjust the flame by using your screw driver on the adjustment screw Once adjusted you should be good to go. I have 2 flame photos one is TOO big and one is about where I keep mine. It can be lower & still work fine.., I just like a BIG flame. The problem with the guy from last year. He started with the adjustment screw all the way to the counter clockwise and the lighter would expel an entire butane load in less than a second w/ no flame ... WHICH he was lucky, this is way dangerous. Once I dialed him in, his lighter worked fine, I returned it and is still working fine.
