Description: Sonny Rollins Quartet -Tenor Madness Prestige PRLP 7047 US 1956 Orig.1st Press John Coltrane RVG This is a RARE GEM. An original 1956 US 1st pressing of Tenor Madness featuring Sonny Rollins and John Coltrane. A must have for any serious Jazz collector. This copy was well loved by the original owner and was frequently played. The record has noticeable surface marks some of which can be felt. However, when I played this record it did play through without skipping on my turntable. I normally would not sell a record with surface marks that can be felt but I know this is a record many people are looking for. There is surface noise throughout but you can still hear and enjoy the music. It plays better than it looks! Label: EX....Clean with no writing, stickers or marks. Vinyl: G+....The record has noticeable surface marks some of which can be felt. However, when I played this record it did play through without skipping on my turntable. Inner Sleeve: No inner sleeve Cover: VG...The cover has signs of aging along with some frayed corner edges. There is some clear tape along part of the top and bottom seams as well as along part of the spine. There is a crease on the bottom right of the front jacket. The back jacket is missing part of the top right hand corner. The spine is intact and there aren't any writings or marks on the cover. GOLDMINE STANDARD GRADING:Mint: Unopened; Still factory sealed or opened but has no visible marks; Looks like it has never been played. NM: Near Perfect; Played rarely if ever; May have 1 or 2 very slight superficial scuffs that does not effect play. EX: Almost like new; Might have a few superficial signs of use that does not effect play; Very well cared for. May contain very light surface scratches and/or scuffs. Label and jacket may show slight signs of ring-wear and/or lightly bent corners. No writing, tears or rips. VG+: May show some signs that it was played and handled by a previous owner who took reasonably good care of it. Imperfections are cosmetic and do not drastically impact the playback. Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs and surface scratches. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are ok. The label and jacket may have some slight ring ring-wear, discoloration, minor tears and imperfections. As with most vinyl, there may be low-level surface noise and light crackles and pops may be present, especially during quiet or soft passages in the track. VG: Surface noise will be noticeable but will not overpower the music; More noticeable scuffs and lite scratches. Many of the imperfections found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG record or sleeve but will still play through nicely without any issues or skips. I do not sell anything graded less than VG unless it is a very rare find that people are looking for regardless of condition. Thanks for looking! Please let me know if you have questions.
