Temple-Doc was the editor of the Lincoln Herald for many years and a contributor (See bio below)-The booklet features an image by artist Lloyd Ostendorf of Abraham Lincoln at the Long Nine meeting in Athens, Illinois (where Springfield was chosen as the new State Capitol) on front & pictures Lincoln making his famous toast-It was issued by Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate Tennessee-It is signed by Doc in black ink on front above the image-The booklet itself is hard to find and is a great read, let alone signed by the editor! How fun is that? Following the war he enrolled in college, and by 1956 he had a Ph.D. in history and was teaching at Lincoln Memorial University. In 1964 he moved to Springfield and began a long career at the Illinois State Archives. Since then he has earned the reputation as being one of the nation's most knowledgeable Lincoln scholars. 'Doc' Temple authored scores of speeches, short articles, and research notes about Abraham Lincoln, as well as a half-dozen important volumes, with particular focus on Lincoln's military, religious, surveying, and domestic life.
