Description: There are a million photos of this darling little vase because I just couldn't stop myself. She's a beauty from every angle. The details: Carstens Tonnieshof West German Art Pottery with Stand - 3.75 inches. Design #433, as noted on the bottom of the piece. This piece is in excellent condition. Wood display stand is included.Handle has a twisted rope design.Colors are absolutely stunning: turquoise, black, and gold leafThe gold-leaf text reads "Gruss aus markgroningen," which translates to "Greetings from Markgroningen." Markgroningen is the name of a town in what was formerly West Germany. While this does not have the maker's sticker on it, I am confident that this is from Carstens Tonnieshof because this color palette is one they used in multiple designs. Unfortunately, Carstens often only used stickers to identify their work. Many of the stickers no longer remain. See more here: http://www.fatlavamarksandlabels.com/carstens-t%C3%B6nnieshof/marks-page-1-40553491The Carstens facility was originally in Brandenburg, East Germany. After WWII, they moved their operations to West Germany. If you're a history buff, there's a great writeup here: https://themakersguild.com/blogs/journal/carstens-tonnieshof-1 The vibe: The striking color combo is what initially drew my attention. Then, I became intrigued by the "West Germany" notation on the bottom. Beauty, elegance, and resilience denoting a very specific moment in time, all in one dainty little package.
