Description: Selling a Superlux D421 dynamic microphone. No, your eyes don’t deceive you - this is an unabashed clone of the iconic Shure SM7B, and a surprisingly good one at that. Not only does it look the part, but it handles the sound side as well, not quite replicating the smooth broadcast tone but delivering a bit of its own unique character. Built-in bass roll-off and presence boost switches give a bit of tone shaping control. Mounts without issue to a standard 5/8” collar, with a 3/8”-to-5/8” adapter included for mounting on smaller tripods. The original windscreen has been replaced with a real deal Shure A7WS, which fits great and gets the job done nicely. (Original is not included, as it was damaged in storage.) Since microphones of this type are notoriously gain-hungry (with the Superlux being no exception), a Triton FETHead in-line preamp is also included. Adding a whopping 27dB of clean gain, even the mildest of interfaces can handle whats coming through this mic. Doesn’t color the tone in any detrimental ways either, so you still get a nice neutral sound. For those looking for the SM7B aesthetic and general sound without shelling out the extra money (or going with some of the more gamer-focused options that have come to the market in recent years) this is a pairing that can certainly deliver.
