ATTENTION: PLEASE REALIZE THAT "SUPER-HOT" PEPPER SEEDS GENERALLY TAKE MUCH LONGER TO GERMINATE THAN REGULAR PEPPER SEEDS, SOME NEED AS LONG AS 45-60 DAYS OF 80+ DEGREE HEATED SOIL TO GERMINATE THOUGH A FEW OF THE SEEDS MAY SPROUT IN 25-30 DAYS, MOST IF NOT ALL, MAY TAKE LONGER! The bell pepper is the fruit of plants in the Grossum Group of the species Capsicum annuum. Cultivars of the plant produce fruits in different colors, including red, yellow, orange, green, white, chocolate, candy cane striped, and purple. They are an excellent source of vitamin C, especially the ripest peppers, which are red. Peppers are also a good source of vitamin A and fiber. Bell peppers also have antioxidant properties, which may help to protect against diseases such as cardiovascular disease and some cancers. Red bell peppers have more than twice the vitamin C of a green pepper. Bell peppers are a good source of Vitamin A. The scientific name for bell peppers is Capsicum annum. Peppers were named by Spanish explorers searching for peppercorn plants to produce black pepper. Start seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before the last frost and transplant into garden well after the danger of frost. Keep seedlings moist but do not over water. Transplants should be initially watered in well, and plants will be most productive with regular irrigation and full sun. Sow them shallowly, around 1/4 inch deep. Hot peppers, and especially super-hot peppers, have a well-earned reputation for being finicky to germinate, but you can increase germination rates by providing bottom heat (highly suggested).
