Description: The Classic New York 7C! Check out this 1930s New York 7C. Look closely and you'll see the extra punctuation VINCENT BACH CORP., NEW YORK That period and oversize comma indicate this mouthpiece was cut in the 1930s, probably on East 216th in the Bronx. The font is sans serif (doesn't have the little horizontal ornaments). Very good silver plate, indicating that the mouthpiece may have rarely been used, or maybe re-plated at some point. It's a deep, rich silver plate. The shank end appears to have been filed or ground down a bit as it appears somewhat uneven. The overall length is about 0.011" shorter than a 7C from the "early Elkhart" period. That's only about a quarter of a millimeter - apparently the thickness of a nitrile glove! Past repair? Inexpert modification? The price reflects these findings. Upon very close examination, it appears the mouthpiece has been expertly opened to a larger throat size. I measured it at a no. 26. The sound is bold! The 1938 Bach mouthpiece catalog describes it as lively, even and brilliant. It's a large volume cup, and this mouthpiece has a more comfortable rim than is found on today's 7C. Yeah, I said it. Hey, free shipping too!
