Description: The Gypsy Troubadour - An Operetta in Two Acts Libretto and Lyrics by Effa E. Preston and music by Don Wilson - the book is half musical notation and half the lines of the play. - A gypsy (Nikoli) returns to the tribe from college to announce to his father (Todoro) that he wishes to marry outside the Roma. His father reacts badly since he had hoped his son would marry within the tribe and succeed him as leader. Nikoli's cousin, however, is overjoyed, since he is next in line to inherit, and immediately begins to plot to guarantee this comes to pass. Nikoli's cousin steals a necklace from Nikoli's sweetheart (Claire) and places the blame on Nikoli. Claire is outraged, so a gypsy girl who loves Nikoli (Rosarita) takes the blame. Nikoli, horrified, tries to shift the blame back to himself. The end of all this confusion is that Todoro kicks them both from the camp and the tribe. Luckily Nikoli's college friend is able to enlist another of the Roma for help and all is revealed to Todoro, who kicks out the deceitful cousin. Claire tries to win Nikoli back but he has decided his heart really lies with the Roma - and the lovely Rosarita, who was willing to risk all for him. Some wear to covers - no stamps, stickers, soiling, smoke, highlighting, folded corners, loose or missing pages. Any questions, please ask.
