The original cloth spine and front cover have been adhered to rear flyleaves. Octavo, trimmed pages to fit 6.5” x 4.75” leather binding. Richly illustrated with black and white photos and maps. Top edge gilt. Marbled endpapers. Gilt ruled and bordered. The spine features five raised bands and compartments with gilt lettering or decoration. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Charles Dwight Willard (1866 - 1914) was one of many promoters who "boosted" Southern California in the late-nineteenth century, primarily through his association with the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce and the promotional magazine LAND OF SUNSHINE. CONDITION DESCRIPTION: The book is in VERY GOOD+ condition - strongly bound with square spines, firm hinges and joints and tight pages. The boards and spines are colorful with some fading and a sun-lightened spine. Rubbing to edges and corners and crease lines along the joints. Top two corners have leather rubbed away. Toning to page edges and pages. Interior is clean with no writing, bookplates, stickers or foxing. Several leaves with folded corners. Offsetting from leather to endpapers. All in all, one of the highest grade collectible copies I see on the market and in fine morocco leather binding. A sharp copy!
