THE HOUSE ON THE BORDERLAND William Hope Hodgson Arkham House 1946

Description: Arkham House 1946 A near fine unclipped jacket. No retouch or restoration. Light wear at head and heel of spine, light soiling to back cover. Book is near fine , clean endpapers. Unmarked interior. No bumped corners. Boards are clean, no smudges or blemishes. None of the glue bleed through discoloration on endpapers that is common to some of these early AH books. Please excuse reflections from the mylar jacket cover. I would like to point out that this jacket is a bit of an anomoly. As shown in the last photo this jacket appears to be an error or variant. The creature in the upper left corner is a pale reddish color as opposed to the blue color in every other copy I have seen. The printing register for the cyan printng plate is fine. The green hair of the figure below and over the creature has the correct cyan component which tells me this was a correct printing plate for thge press and not a press error. I was in the printing industry and this sure looks like it was deliberate and not a mistake. Perhaps an early proof that got out or an early proof that was revised? Variant or error, I dont know.
