Description: The New Epicurean & Adventures of a School Boy, Grove Press, 3rd Printing, 1969, Very Good condition. From the cover flaps: “Two anonymous works from the underground of Victorian literature, deal with the special delights of initiating young girls into the mysteries of sex. The New Epicurean is a series of letters written to the ex-mistresses-Sappho, Lesbia, Lais, Euphrosyne of The Author, who describes himself as "having passed the Rubicon of youth." However, erotologists have come to agree that the volume was written by one Captain Edward Sellon, a notorious London rake who lived at the height of the Victorian age. Captain Sellon spent some ten years in India, where he seems to have acquired, along with a taste for curry, a taste for young and nubile girls. Indulging his fantasies, he composed this book which is a classic example of sexual daydreaming. Sellon sets his delightful tales in the eighteenth century, a period he took to be much more conducive to the arts of dalliance than the gray, repressed one in which he lived. In the book's imaginative musings he is married to a wealthy, understanding wife, who not only aids him in his amours, but who shares them with him as well. In the Adventures of a School Boy, George Vivian and Sir Francis (the narrator of the tale) are invited by George's grandmother to spend the summer holiday at her English country house, the Abbey. The household includes George's aunt and his young "cousins," Maria and Eliza. George and the girls were brought up together at the Abbey, shared the same tutors, and were constant happy companions. He looks forward to this summer with desperate eagerness: at last he, the young Sir Francis, and his beautiful cousins can carry out all the sexual fantasies they enjoyed before only through looking at erotic pictures together. Not long after the boys' arrival, the old schoolroom at the Abbey becomes the private sanctum of the two eager-to-learn, lascivious couples: George and Maria, Frank and Eliza. Eventually their studies make them a foursome. Visitors to the Abbey threaten to interrupt their idyll, until the school-boys find their way via a secret passageway to the girls' bedroom.”
