The Thing Vol 1 (NOT Marvel) Pre-Code Classics:Published November 2013 by PS Artbooks.1st Edition 1st Printing Collects The Thing! #s 1-9. from 1952Foreword by Lawrence Watt-Evans. Art by Dick Giordano, Bob Forgoine, Albert Tyler and others. Hardcover, 368 pages, full colour. The Thing! was an American horror comic book published by Charlton Comics that ran 17 issues from 1952 to 1954. Its tagline was "Weird tales of suspense and horror!" After the 17th issue, it was cancelled and the series' numbering continued as Blue Beetle vol. 2. The Thing (never seen clearly) acted as a narrator. While there was an obvious E.C. influence, the stories got wilder than anything the tightly-controlled E.C. crew ever produced.Charlton seemed to distance itself from this genre book, its publisher changed each month in the comics 1st page indicia, although its postal address remained consistently as Charlton Buildings. Condition is Very Fine-This book was issued without a dust jacketCovers: The covers have four marks which look like transit baling imprints. The surface has a few small dents. The top right hand corner of the front cover has been banged and dented. See my photos for the consequences of this damage. Otherwise both laminated covers are clean, glossy and colour remains bright, clear and reflective. Minimal additional corner and edge wear. Spine is tight, fully intact without stress, no wear. Internal. All pages are full colour and fully intact and firmly attached to the spine. Pages are white and clean.
