Share the magic! ****** Roy Walton added a great kicker to the classic Oil and Water plot when he published "Oil and Queens" -- after the separations of the black and red spot cards, the red spot cards surprisingly changed into four queens. Obvious finale to the effect, and audience applause cue -- just what was needed for the Oil and Water effect (which is repetitive in its nature). Aldo Colombini had many different versions of Walton's effect, using different graphics on the cards. This one is particularly good for kids, because the context is that of the "Ugly Duckling" fairy tale. (Yes, good for kids, but also can play for adults, in a sort of nostalgic way). The magi shows eight cards, four are handsome ducks, and four are ugly ducks -- so ugly that they have to wear bags over on their heads. The magi makes two four card packets, mixing the cards so that two of each kind of duck are in each packet. But then all the handsome ducks are in one packet, and when the other packet is shown, it is NOT the four ugly ducklings -- it is a packet of four beautiful swans. (Just like how the fairy tale ended!) NOTE: the cards are slightly wider than poker size cards -- they are laminated cards, made by Mamma Mia Magic. The cards handle well, even though they are not (technically speaking) "playing cards". Just want to make sure you know that these cards are slightly different than playing cards. Laminated cards have full color graphics, with "back design" of a pond with marsh reeds (see third photo) You may find (unfortunately) inexpensive knock-offs of this trick being sold out of Asia -- Not that you would buy one of the cheap copies of this effect, but if you did, it would end up in your junk drawer or garbage can, because they are printed on poor quality stock and make the routine unperformable. The sets I have for sale are AUTHENTIC MAMMA MIA MAGIC, manufactured by Aldo and Rachel Colombini. They are high quality and handle well for the routine, (as you would expect from a class-act like the Colombinis). Very hard to find authentic sets of this trick now. But I came across a few in a lot of "new-old" dealer inventory. So get the "Real Thing" in brand new, unused condition (even though the stock is about 10-15 years old).
