Front side is raised lettering while the reverse side is highly polished gold finish with the raised US Army Logo. Coin has reeded edges and is about 1 9/16" in diameter. Coin is contained in an acrylic air snaptight holder. The Chemical Corps is the branch of the United States Army tasked with defending against chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear weapons. The corps was founded as theU.S. Chemical Warfare Service (CWS) during World War I. Its name was changed to the Chemical Corps in 1946. For most of its history, the Chemical Corps was tasked with delivering chemical weapons rather than defending against them.
