Description: A good, unmarked copy of "DUNKIRK A Ballad" by Robert Nathan (1894-1985). Nathan was a well-known NY novelist and poet. He was so moved, as was all the free world, by the role played by ordinary British shipowners in the evacuation of Dunkirk early on in the war, that he wrote this poem. The poem tells the story of a brother and sister who undertook that dangerous journey. It is moving still after all these years. The softcover pamphlet is inscribed and signed by Nathan on the title page in 1984, the year before his death. Published by Alfred A. Knopf of New York in 1941. The first printing was in 1941; this is the second printing. The item consists of orange toned paper covers with the threaded binding. Some small creases and tears to the cover edges. Three small spots to the front cover. Please view all posted photos. There are two leaves, eight pages. The only writing is the author's and signature. No foxing, no underlining. No water damage. Not ex-library. Size is approximately 6 by 9 1/2 inches. It's a very good copy of the book overall. Please ask any questions you may have; I'd be happy to answer. The book will be well wrapped and securely boxed. I value the things I sell. No plastic or manila mailers. Shipping is $5.95 via USPS Media Mail with a signature confirmation attached to help prevent mis-delivery as well as package theft.
