VINTAGE 14K YELLOW GOLD DIAMOND DANGLE DROP NECKLACE (circa 1930's) Offered for consideration is this lovely yellow gold and transitional cut diamond dangle drop necklace (circa 1930's - 40's). Be advised that with the advent of new technology in the 1920's an effort began to take shape to create a standardized round cut diamond. The old European diamond began to "transition" to what some call early modern cuts or early American cuts i.e the transitional cut diamond. Transitional cut diamonds are most often seen in jewelry pieces like this one from the 1930's to the 1940's. This dangle drop necklace is crafted of SOLID (not plated or filled) 14K yellow gold (stamped "14k" on the clasp and acid tested), and we stand behind it 100 percent. Attached to the center of the 1mm wide eighteen inch "S" link chain is a 6.03 to 6.12mm diameter round diamond with a depth of 3.71mm. Using the standard formula for estimating the carat weighs of mounted gemstones this one comes up as .95 carats. Please note that this is estimated carat weigh and the stone could be 5 points larger or smaller. Dangling from the center (at a length to of 1" and 5/8") are another four round diamonds. One with a 4.93 to 4.95mm diameter with a depth of 3.18mm and a 4.25 to 4.31mm diameter with a depth of 2.59mm. These calculate to be .50ct and .33ct respectively and with the two other small rounds (.05ct and .03ct) the total diamond weight is approximately 1.85 carats. Again please remember that these are calculated weight estimates. Also note that transitional cut diamonds have more depth than modern full cuts so they will face up slightly smaller than moderns. All of these NATURAL and GENUINE MINED (not lab created) diamonds are EXCEPTIONALLY BRIGHT AND VIBRANT! And all except for the smallest one which has inclusions they are perfectly matched, super clean even when viewed under magnification (VS1 or better), and white (G-H). This item has been sitting in one of our storage boxes for several years and it is in very good pre-owned condition with no significant signs of wear or damage, and any blemish or brown tint in the pictures is caused by reflection.
