Vintage 1930s/40s retro LP records pin Woody Herman, Glen Gray and Jimmy Dorsey

Description: This really neat vintage bar pin probably dates back to the 1930s or 1940s, judging by its design. It features three miniature black records hanging from crossed cream-colored drum sticks, the records labeled Woody Herman, Glen Gray and Jimmy Dorsey, musicians at the height of their careers in the 1930s and 1940s. The brooch is made of plastic and is unmarked. The open c-clasp on the back, which appears to be original to the brooch, is characteristic of pins of that era. It is tarnished but holds well. The piece has been lightly cleaned since these photos were taken and is in great vintage condition.By way of information, Woody Herman, a saxophonist, clarinetist, singer and bandleader, was known for his band's orchestrations of the blues, swing and bebop in the 1930s and 1940s. While he continued to perform until the 1980s, he is best remembered for his innovative work half a decade earlier. Glen Gray was a saxophonist and bandleader whose jazz career pinnacled in the 1930s and 1940s. Ill health forced him to stop touring in 1950 although later that decade, he recorded sounds of the big band era. Jimmy Dorsey was a clarinetist, saxophonist, trumpeter, composer and bandleader who first started performing with his brother, Tommy Dorsey, in the 1920s. In the mid-1930s, the brothers had a dispute and each formed his own jazz band until they reunited in the early 1950s to perform swing.
