Description: This is a vintage copper penny from the 1960s that was likely used as a MATCHBOOK or souvenir at the Copper Penny Family Coffee Shop in Los Angeles. The coffee shop may have been a popular spot for coffee and tea lovers during that time. The item appears to be in mint condition, making it a unique and collectible piece of coffee and tea advertising memorabilia. Although Tiny Naylor’s seemed to be much more popular in Los Angeles, our coffee shop of choice was the Copper Penny – right across from Naylor’s at La Brea Avenue and Sunset Boulevard. Red pleather booths, serviceable, wooden tables in the center – a long dining counter in bright red, with hundreds of pennies on its surface, entombed in clear polymer… The Copper Penny was a short walk from our digs at Franklin and Orange. It was our default, our go-to destination for reasonable meals. In the seventies, a generous tuna melt with huge fries could be had for $2.50. PER ROGER YALE AT WORDPRESS
