This small set opens to about 1 inch. 3 inches overall length.Because of their design the measurement taken at one end automatically transfers to the opposite end. Double Outside Calipers are designed for measuring the wall thickness of turned vessels, especially closed form bowls and vases. When you close one end of the caliper on the wall of your bowl, you can read the thickness at the other end of the caliper.
