Description: Bet ya didn't know: the Holgate Company was founded in 1789 (Yes! same year as the Constitution!) as a woodworking shop outside Philadelphia. In 1929, Holgate became one of the first toy companies in the U.S. to research and develop the educational, preschool market for children. AND one of its chief designers was Jarvis Rockwell, brother of Norman. This red and white wood toaster was probably made around the middle of the last century. One of the three pieces of "toast" has survived. The wood toy is in good, age-related condition -- it's obviously been played with, as all good toys are. There's a small chip on one of the handles. The wood toaster is approx. 7 1/2" long x 3 1/2" deep x 5 1/4" tall.
