I didn't try to sew with it. Untested vintage Little Gem toy sewing machine. There is an area on the back lower part of the base where it looks like it got hot and melted some of the plastic of machine. Handle turns and needle moves up and down. Neat little display piece. May be fully functional, but I have not tested it because I have no idea how to sew. Instruction booklet and needle threader are missing. It would make a good display piece.
