Description: Michael Andersen & Sons was founded in 1890 by Jens Michael Andersen (1859-1931) out of an existing pottery that had been founded in 1773 in the town of Rønne on the island of Bornholm. Compared to other Scandinavian ceramics companies, such as Rörstrand or Arabia, Michael Andersen & Sons is often overlooked despite their excellent quality, technically complicated glazes and lovely forms. Under the ownership of his two sons, the firm employed over 70 people through the 1940s-1950s. The company under new ownership is still active today. About 6" tall, signed on base, no damage noted. Great looking arts and crafts era form and color.
