Vintage Excellent Resistol 1960s Beaver Fifty 50 SilverBelly Cattleman 7+ 7-1/8

Description: This OUTSTANDING Vintage Resistol very early 1960s - Beaver Fifty (50) - SilverBelly - Cattleman - with a Nice Very Wide 3 inch wide brim. This is another of Dad’s Outstanding True Vintage Resistol BR Fifty 50 Cattleman Cowboy hats. This was manufactured from a High Grade Beaver - Fifty 50. Since this is a true vintage Beaver Fifty it’s as soft as silk to the touch. There is NO comparison to any of the newer hats that are sold today! The newer higher quality (like the Stetson 30X Beaver) are very stiff and not really pliable at all! There is just NO way to compare this to anything new! If you look at the leather sweatband you will see there is only very very minor wear on it! It almost appears to have never been worn but we know that it was worn at least a handful of times and then stored away. We can see the bit of fading on the lettering where it states “Self Conforming Hand Creased” but that’s lettering, not the leather itself. See pictures, not even the reed where hats show wear always after it’s been worn has any wear to it. The reed is the part of the leather sweatband that attaches to the beaver. This was bought at the World Famous LUSKEY’S in Texas. This was one of the Best Western Hat Stores around in Texas! And Texans are known for their outstanding hats! NO HAT BOX CURRENTLY! The very large Resistol oval box is not in good condition! The bottom is all broken out and no hat holding insert set. It just not worthy of storing the hat inside or shipping! NOTE: So you can see that newer 1960s Square Resistol hat box is the first picture. If you’d like that hat box you MUST write to us first, before buying the hat. If we sent you an offer it comes WITHOUT the hat box. If you still want the hat box after receiving an offer please write to us BEFORE buying the hat. The Square Resistol hat box is still in very good condition, with only minor paper wear and the top has 2 corners broken out. It still has its original hat holding insert set. The cost of the hat box and extra shipping in total will add another $50 ( that includes the extra shipping cost- so shipping with be changed to $50 and that takes care of the $30 for shipping and $20 for the actual hat box. The Beaver 50 is extremely soft and pliable. This is in the Original Cattleman style shape that it was found in. Dad will need to do a bit more touch up on the steam shaping, minor but Dad is extremely particular! It only needed cleaning with horsehair brush and a bit more steam shaping to tune it up a bit. There is still a bit of dust and a couple very small spots on it and if you blow up the pictures you can see them. It’s all very minor and one of Dad’s hat collectors have written to us numerous times telling Dad to buy and use the Orange Cleaning Sponge to clean this up. But Dad refuses to change his methods after all these years and he believes that by using the Orange Sponge he will be hiding something. We are not 100% certain how or if these Orange Cleaning Sponges actually work either? BR does NOT stand for Beaver, it stands from Byer-Rolnick, 2 of Resistol’s hat designers. The “50” represents the quality of Beaver! One of their very best, high end materials! If you’d like the brim reshaped? The picture number of the whole underside is the best representation of the actual color. It’s the closest one.SO CURRENTLY NO HAT BOX! That Black Feather was with the hat. It’s in fair condition. Ok now the particulars We found no size tag, we looked for an under-tag but did not see it. So this measures to a fraction over a perfect size 7 by and 1/8 of an inch. So it’s measuring 22-1/8 inches. A perfect size 7 is 22 inches and a perfect 7-1/8 is 22-3/8 inches. We use the Tilley Hat Sizing chart for sizes, that came in the 1970s when the Tilley Hat Sizing Chart was developed. The leather sweatband is in such pristine condition that stretching this to a size 7-1/8 is possible. It just takes patience and time and much care. Many of Dads buyers and collectors are using that $15 Amazon Hat Stretcher and getting excellent results. It can take from days to weeks to stretch a hat. Slow tiny turns of the hat stretcher and leaving it there long enough to get the leather sweatband’s stretch to stay in the leather’s memory so it won’t shrink back. My grandson says there are videos online with instructions. And like always we measure each hat 3 times using different methods to verify the actual size!
