Description: Vintage, French Verdure Aubusson wool Tapestry with a traditional forest scene and pheasant pair in foreground and rose floral border. This lovely, muted color tapestry measures 84" high by 54" wide. The tightly woven, rough wool yarns are a combination of browns, greens, rose/reds/plum and beige. Side edges have unhemmed edges, with top and bottom with matching brown edge band, no rod pocket or back lining. Back shows hand work done on jacquard loom with individual yarns and color changes. This was an estate sale find in which most of the pieces were early 20th century, but no other provenance on this available so with its condition, it is likely dated the first half of the 20th century.
