After forging and shaping it was set into a Magnolia wood handle.This Hocho was used in a Japanese kitchen to prepare fish for sashimi, sushi sliced raw fish and seafood. Makes for a good general purpose kitchen knife for chopping. The blade edge has condition issue and will need to be repaired. Priced accordingly.
