Description: Vintage KEN GOODRICH Hand Turned Dogwood Wood Bowl Sculpture measuring approximately 8 1/4 x 8 Inches. The bowl has a rich satiny finish and great grain lines and knots. The bowl is hand signed "Ken Goodrich dogwood" on the base. A great piece for any lover of fine hand carved wood pieces for display. Ken Goodrich of Moses Lake, Washington has been turning wood for more than 70 years. His interest in wood started in the mid 30's. His dad was a high school wood shop teacher and gave him his first wood-turning lesson. Goodrich’s exquisitely turned wood vessels have been displayed and sold at art galleries around the Northwest as well as in museums. He spent five years in the military during World War II, then returned to Vernal, Utah, for a short time before moving to the Columbia Basin in 1951. He farmed full-time on family land until he retired in 1989. Almost every day since, Goodrich has headed out to his shop to create something beautiful from wood grown in Washington state and eastern Utah. “Everyone has to do something,” he laughs, “and wood from ordinary shade trees can be turned into unlimited variations of beauty.” Kenneth passed away in August of 2015. My father and my husbands father brought back many lovely pieces of jewelry, porcelain, clothing, perfumes, and household items to their wives, sweethearts, moms and family members upon their return from Europe after WWII. Many of the items have gone to family, but there are still many items that need a home, and they are listed here. There are also other items, long held family treasures that also need to find new homes, as we have no room in ours for them. Many of them have been passed on from generation to generation over 100's of years. We hope they find a home with you. I bought many gemstones, carvings, minerals, gold, and other fine items while in the jewelry industry. Many of them I made into jewelry that I sold, but I am now selling all of the pieces that I have, since I no longer have the time to devote to jewelry making. Please look at my other loose carvings and gems for design or collection. I generally ship items within 1 day of receipt of payment (weekdays). Auction item payments are due within 3 days of end of auction. Buy-It-Now payments are due immediately. I accept paypal and payment through ebay and do not ship outside the U.S.
