Description: Just one of inkFrog's Creations Description: Vintage Rome Italy Charm Bracelet European Travel Silver Enamel Fountains This is a spectacular vintage charm bracelet featuring a collection of 8 vintage Rome theme travel charms, some of which are very unique and hard to find. Clockwise from right, the charms include: La Bocca della Verità (The Mouth of Truth) depicts the world-famous marble sculpture located in the portico of the church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin in Rome. Since the Middle Ages, the sculpture is thought to be a lie-detector of sorts. Myth has it that if one told a lie and placed one’s hand in the fountain, it would be bitten off. The sculpture had a starring role in the movie Roman Holiday. If you’ve seen the movie, you’ll recall that Gregory Peck placed his hand in the mouth of the sculpture and pretended that it had been bitten off, much to Audrey Hepburn’s horror! Fontana dei Tritoni (Fountain of the Tritons), Romulus and Remus, mythological twin brothers whose adventures led them to the discovery of Rome. This charm is beautifully enameled within a shield flanked by a laurel wreath and topped with a crown. The charm is lightly gold-washed. Fontana del Moro (Fountain of the Moor) depicts a Moor standing in a conch shell wrestling a dolphin and is surrounded by four Tritons. Vatican City is a beautiful enameled charm which depicts St. Peter’s Basilica in Saint Peter’s Square. The Pieta charm depicts the Italian Renaissance sculpture by Michelangelo housed in St. Peter’s Basilica. The Fontana del Tritone (Fountain of the Triton) is located near the Fountain of the Tritons. The Rome Colosseum charm completes the bracelet. The largest charm measures 15/16 inches in diameter, and the smallest measures 3/8 by 3/4 inches. The swirled, sturdy bracelet links complement the charms beautifully. The end ring is stamped with a maker’s mark KJ with an arrow going through the letters, and 800 for silver content The bracelet and charms are in very good vintage condition with normal wear for their age. The enameled charms are all in very good condition. All of the charms are made of 800 silver except the Vatican City charm which is silver-plated brass.
