Description: Solid sterling silver larger and sturdy (approx. 1 5/8" tall with bale and jump ring; weight approx. 6.1 g) two-sided Cross pendant featuring authentic Irish design of the ancient "Sun Cross" (also known as Celtic Cross) with image of the Crucified Savior on the obverse and Celtic-style ornaments on the reverse and on the side panels. The artistic design of the obverse is similar to the Crucifixion side of the Durrow High Cross, one of the Ireland's most famous ancient high crosses. In a Christian context, the "Sun Cross" could symbolically represent Jesus as "the sun of righteousness" (Malachi 4:2) and His preaching, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness" (John 8:12). The bottom part of the reverse displays the full set of Irish silver hallmarks (Dublin, 1998) indicating that it is made in solid sterling silver. There is additional punch mark appearing as a maker's mark. The pendant has vintage appearance with signs of wear including diminished quality of the artwork, scratches, dents and small deformations, and patches of discoloration/patina.
