Description: Vintage solid sterling silver large and sturdy (approx. 1 7/8" tall with bale and jump ring; weight approx. 3.8 g) Orthodox Crucifix pendant featuring an artisan-style, hand-engraved design of a plain and humble right-angled Savior's Cross with detailed high-relief artistic depiction of the Crucified Savior. His head is crowned with large 3-dimensional halo with rays of light that could symbolically represent Jesus as "the sun of righteousness" (Malachi 4:2) and His preaching, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness" (John 8:12). The reverse displays a hand-engraved ornament and inscription of the traditional Slavonic Orthodox prayer meaning "Save and Protect" incorporated into the central horizontal crossbar of the pendant. The prayer reminds us that Christ the Savior is with us to save and protect a person wearing the cross from every evil and all enemies visible and invisible. The vertical crossbar is filled with a floral vine-like ornament that might symbolize the life-giving nature of the Christian Cross, and also refer to the preaching of Christ: "I am the vine; you are the branches" (John 15:5). The large soldered jump ring of the pendant bears two punch marks, one of which displays the "925" hallmark indicating the "sterling" purity. It has been confirmed using the silver acid test. The pendant has vintage appearance with signs of aging and wear that might include diminished quality of the artwork, deformations of its original shape, scratches, dents, and patches of discoloration/patina.
