I don't like to risk damaging a watch or piece of jewelry by cleaning it wrong or using the wrong cleaning supplies. New items of course don't have this issue. Also note, because of the intense flash on my camera, it can make tarnish look like rust on silver jewelry, and make a brushed finish on gold jewelry or watches look like intense micro scratching.
