Description: This box of 850 organic chemistry study cards was manufactured by the Visual Education Association (Vis-Ed) of Dayton, Ohio. These cards date to between 1958 and 1963, when the original purchaser of these cards was a college student. The 1.5" tall and 3.5" long cards are numbered from 1 to 850 and have a chemical formula on the front of each card and a solution with the chemical name on the back. There are also at least 100 blank cards included in the box to make up your own study or flash cards. The cards are in very nice condition. The first card has some natural aging discoloration from being adjacent to the carboard box, but all the other cards are clean and free of stains. Also included in the box is a 7 page pamphlet that explains how to use the cards. The staples have minor rust from age but the pamphlet is otherwise in good condition. The box measures 8.5" long, 4" wide, and 1.75" tall. The box weighs just under one and a half pounds. There is discoloration from age and some wear on the top edge of the box cover (see photos) but the box is otherwise sturdy and in tact. This set may be over 60 years old, but the formulas have not changed so this could still be a helpful learning tool for a science major. Or use this as a fun piece of mid-century modern scholarly / academia decor. Could also be used for paper crafting, scrapbooking, cardmaking, or junk journaling.
