Description: One pint amber glass bottle. Excellent condition. Now cracks, chips, or marks. Bottle says “Federal law forbids sale or re-use of this bottle” This was a law for bottles to have this stamp from the end of Prohibition until 1964 so people wouldn’t refill them with boot leg liquor. The 56-52 on the bottom means it was 1952. The first two digits are the liquor bottle permit code. 56 was assigned to Owens-Illinois Glass Company’s factory at Charleston, West Virginia. The D-11number on the bottom is the “Distiller’s Number” which was assigned to Frankfort Distillery. Cool history for this unique piece!!
