Description: Here we have a coffee or tea cup marked with the VNS symbol on the front (Vereenigde Nederlandsche Scheepvaartmaatschappij or United Netherlands Navigation Co.) and marked on the base “Hutschenreuther/Hohenberg/Bavaria/Van Zwanenburg/Rotterdam”. Cup is 3” wide and 2” tall and is in good condition with some discoloration around the rim and one tiny flake (1/8” across) off the base rim but no other damage. This is an early example of the china used on this company’s ships from 1920-1933 or so; the mark on the base ceased use around 1933. I’ve only ever seen one other piece of china from this company.
