Description: Vintage GIRL WITH DOG Completed Crewel Work Embroidery Art MAGNIFICENT/FRAMED 22.5" x 16.75" frame Actual embroidery piece displaying in front is 19.5" x 13.5"An amazing piece- all hand embroidered with tiny details [very small and fine needle work, gorgeous]. Wool thread in a lovely array of jewel toned colors which are quite unusual- lilac purple, plum, moss green, pale blue, mustard yellow, black, and creamThis piece is circa 1950s or early 1960sThis piece is after a copy of the Joshua Reynolds painting 'Miss Bowles & Her Dog' from the 1700s. Custom framed to fit this piece with a gorgeous dark matte wood [black] frame with gold gilt borders and molding.Excellent vintage condition, no damage to crewel work embroidery or frame- pristine. This piece must have been stored away from sunlight, as the wool thread colors are unfaded. An exquisite piece. Hanging hanger on back, ready to hang. Original brown paper that covered the back of the piece is largely missing. Has very thick and stable cardboard backing, the brown paper was just decorative. Shown in indoor and outdoor lighting, the piece is mainly jewel toned plums and purples with are best shown in the outdoor [first] photos. This is a fantastic image.
