Nice vintage 1980s rainbow 3D magic glass holographic art work with hardwood stand display. Subject is a family of dolphins swimming in a pod. I was surprised at how good the craftmanship is on this piece. Magic glass or sometimes called magical glass holograms really caught on in the 1980s. There were a lot of lesser holograms quality-wise as the technology made pieces easier, faster and less expensive to make. This is one of the more expensive and better holograms. The edges of the glass are beveled. It's two pieces of glass fused together with the hologram gel safely protected between them. It keeps it from getting any stray scratches on the image. The hardwood stand is angled to hold the glass at a good angle to get the best perspective for the 3D effect. The image is nice and detailed. The depth isn't super deep, but it's still got a good range front to back and side to side. These are best viewed with the ambient light source from the side or rear. Light doesn't have to be bright. An open window works just fine. I've taken pictures in both a light tent and in an open room with no additional lighting so you can see the range. This artwork has a lot of nice rainbow flashing. The hardwood base has a light brown stain. Both are in great shape. No cracks or issues. The gel feet on the bottom of the stand are a little worn and could be replaced with felt if desired. What a great find and a bit of 1980s kitsch nostalgia. These are somewhat getting harder to find, and especially in better shape like this one is.
