Description: wahoo Speedplay Zero Track Special pedals, #2 inserts & Zero cleat set stage, NEW IMPORTANT: These pedals are NOT meant for novice riders. wahoo SPEEDPLAY ZERO TRACK SPECIAL PEDALS w/ #2 INSERTS:wahoo Speedplay Zero pedals and legacy Speedplay Zero pedals come standard with silver #1 inserts. For those who require a bit more resistance to disengagement than the standard inserts, Speedplay sold the Zero Track Special pedals with the gold #2 inserts. These #2 inserts are meant for intermediate/advanced level riders, track racers or those who ride a little more aggressively than the average rider and require/prefer the additional retention. NOTE: Speedplay-sponsored UCI teams were issued Zero pedals with #2 inserts as standard equipment. IMPORTANT: The use of the #2 inserts does NOT alter the force to engage the cleat on the pedal. With other pedal systems, increasing the force required to disengage one's cleats from the pedals requires turning a screw, which further compresses a spring, and has a commensurate increase in the force required to engage the cleats in the pedals. This is not the case with Speedplay's #2 inserts. The additional force required to disengage the cleat from the pedal is solely due to the steeper angles of the gold #2 inserts compared to the silver #1 inserts. See insert picture for comparison. SPEEDPLAY ZERO CLEAT SET STAGE:The Speedplay Zero Cleat Set Stage kit contains the three layers of the Zero Cleat Set that wear under normal usage: the Spring Housing w/ Zero Spring, the Black Metal Bottom Plate and Walkable Covers. (Note: This kit also includes the 8 cleat fastening screws.) This kit does NOT include the base plates given that under normal usage, base plates rarely wear enough to require replacement. (IMPORTANT: If your base plates are significantly worn, please do NOT purchase this kit and purchase a complete Zero cleat set instead.) NOTE: The Speedplay Zero Cleat Set stage is compatible ONLY with the original Speedplay Snap Shim Base Plate (V.1) or the Speedplay V.2 Snap Shim Base Plate. The wahoo Speedplay Base Plate is the same as the Speedplay V.2 Snap Shim Base Plate as denoted by the “V.2” on the Base Plate and is therefore also compatible.
