Description: This unit performs very rapid absorbance assays in 96 well microplates. Installed filters for bandpass as 450, 570 and 690 nm. It's very simple to use. Simply load your plate, select your wavelength, collect a scan in about 30 seconds. Data for each well can be seen on the screen by toggling (4 wells at a time per screen). Although the Bradford assay is ideally performed at 595 nm, we used the 570 nm filter on a dilute solution of protein G (it's what I had laying around) and it still worked great (see graph). The assay was quick and dirty (N=1), but it got the job done and with a passable correlation coefficient of 0.97. An N of 3 probably would have gotten us a 0.99. This reader is an excellent choice for education use or any biology lab with basic needs and is on a budget.
