WPA Guide to NEW HAMPSHIRE -- First Edition, 1938 -- FEDERAL WRITERS' PROJECT

Description: Measuring about 5-3/4" x 8-1/4", and 559 pages long, this hardback book is "New Hampshire - A Guide to the Granite State" written by workers of the Federal Writers' Project (FWP) of the Works Progress Administration (WPA) for the State of New Hampshire. Published by Houghton Mifflin Company in the "American Guide Series", it has a copyright date of 1938, and, with no later edition or printing stated, it is presumed to be the First Edition. Someone has also written "(1938)" in pencil on the title page, but I'm not sure how authoritative that is. The book is in very good and readable condition, but with a hinge crack at the title page and (as shown in the last two pictures) some loss of cloth at the top of the spine, possibly due to rodent damage. Otherwise, just typical light surface rubbing and edge wear on the cover, and, as shown in the last picture, some light dampstaining to the page edges (but not visible on the pages). There is no map with it, but I suspect it wasn't issued with one because there is no pocket at the inside back cover.
