Description: A Leaflet from the leadership of Japan warning the Japanese of their imminent defeat. The Japanese text on the clock side of the leaflet loosely translates to "The time is approaching". The heading on the other side loosely translates to "Soldiers who left their hometowns". The text when translated to English using a translation app loosely reads " In Tokyo, we have a very detailed understanding of the reality of this war. If we ignore that example, it is inconceivable that, given the current situation, we will not suffer a final defeat (Tokyo Muden 1945, July 31st). We cannot assume that the general situation of the war is progressing satisfactorily, the closer the enemy approaches our internal defenses, the more difficult it will be for us to gain (Minister of the U. S. Inland Sea, September 7, 1945). We should keep in mind the possibility that the Allied Forces will land on our mainland (Prime Minister Koiso, September 1945). What does the voice of the right Tokyo office really mean? This means that even though your war comrades have been fighting a fierce battle in various parts of the Pacific, the great advance of the Allied Forces is steadily advancing toward Japan. The time has come for the highly ambitious military to conceal the miscalculations it has committed and even though it knows that there is no chance of victory, it is trying to make you die in vain in order to save its own face. I can be said that there is indeed a righteous path." An amazing piece of history capturing the situation in Japan towards the end of the war. This leaflet came from a WWII U. S. serviceman's scrapbook.1945The leaflet is printed on newsprint paper stock.Measures 5 x 7 3/4 inches.VERY FINE condition, with some photo album paper remnants on the top corners on one side of the leaflet, faint vertical and horizontal creases at center.
