Yugoslavia 1984 OLYMPICS #1645-51, 1664-73, 1677, 1680-83, 1704 FDC Proofcards

Description: A beautiful collection of Olympics stamps from Yugoslavia from the years 1983 and 1984 when they hosted the Winter Games. My, that seems a long time ago. This is a Fleetwood-prepared set of Proofcards (their terminology) with a large (6" by 9") thick card featuring a painting of a sport and underneath a physical copy of the postage stamp cancelled with a first day of issue special cancel. Images are all taken from original paintings by Andreja Milenkovich or Dusan Lucic. Stamps are actual country-issued stamp mounted singly or sometimes in groups on the caards. Using Scott numbers, the stamps and their respective cards are: #1645, 1646, 1647, 1648, 1649, 1650, 1651 (the full 6-stamp set plus souvenir sheet from 11/25/1983 issue), 1645-1647 (on a Cross-Country Skiing image card), 1648-1650 (on an Olympic Skiing card), 1664, 1665, 1666, 1667, 1668, 1669, 1670, 1671, 1672, 1673 (the full 8-stamp set plus 2 souvenir sheets from 2/8/84 issue), 1664 + 1666 + 1669 + 1671 (on a The Luge card), 1665 + 1667 + 1668 + 1670 (on a Cross-Country Skiing card), 1677 (one-off issue featuring Silver Medalist in Giant Slalom Jure Franko rom 4/28/84), 1680, 1681, 1682, 1683 (the full 4-stamp set for Summer Olympics from 5/14/84 issue), 1680 + 1682 (on a Yachting card), 1681 + 1683 (on a Cycling card), 1704a-1704c (from 11/14/84 issue), 1704d-1704h + label, 1704a, 1704b, 1704c, 1704d, 1704e, 1704f, 1704g, 1704h (see Note below on these Scott numbers). This totals 38 cards and 56 stamps. Total 2022 Scott catalogue value just as used stamps comes to $27.40. (NOTE: Scott seems to have messed up the descriptions for #1704a-1704h which isn't surprising considering how poorly designed the stamps are as the logos for the individual sports don't accurately represent the sports they show. Scott states #1704b is Running but it's identified as Boxing in this book; 1704c as Field Hockey but identified as Kayaking in this book; and 1704d as Shot Put but identified as Water Polo in this book.) Perfect for OLYMPICS, SPORTS topical and YUGOSLAVIA collectors, this album is quite lovely on the shelf and to look through, and the binder and sheets alone is easily worth the base price. Pages and binder are mint (weird shadow on images from the vinyl of the sheets); ready for display. Item shown is one you will receive. From a non-smoking environment.
